The WNEC softball team fell to 3-8 on the season after an out-of conference loss to Amherst, 5-2. WNEC starter Meaghan Reiman was chased from the game with 2 outs in the second inning after allowing 5 runs (2 earned) on 6 hits in just an 1.2 IP. The G-Bears offense managed just 3 hits on the day, with Amherst starter Theresa Kelly retiring the first 11 batters faced, when a Rachel Wyrwa walk broke up the perfect game bid in the 4th. A 2-run triple by Jenna Longo later that inning provided the only runs on the day for WNEC.
The G-Bears will try to get back on track when they travel to Milton for their TCCC opener againt Curry in Saturday afternoon doubleheader, with first pitch of game 1 set for 1:00. WNEC will return home on April 2 for a doubleheader vs. NEC, following a 7-game road trip where they will face Endicott, Smith, and UNE as well.
