The WNEC mens lacrosse team traveled to Medford Monday afternoon to face #1 ranked and defending national champions Tufts, losing 14-13.
After going down 9-4 at halftime, the G-Bears rallied in the third quarter to tie the game at 10 apeice. Tufts would then pull away after DJ Hessler and Matt Witko goals put them up 12-10. A Nick Jez goal with 1:06 remaining put WNEC within a goal, but it was too little too late as the game ended in a 14-13 final. Patrick White led the scoring attack for WNEC, putting in 3 goals, while Mike Santare was the only other Golden Bear to find the net on more than one occasion with 2 goals. Brewster Knowlton stopped 15 shots in net on 57 shots faced in the game overall. Tufts dominated in groundballs, taking 46 of 67 ground balls on the game, while winning 22 of the 31 faceoffs.
WNEC falls to 5-3 on the season, while Tufts moves their record to 6-0. The G-Bears travel to Newport, RI on Wednesday when they return to TCCC action against Salve Regina, face-off at 4:30.
