The WNEC lacrosse team improved to 6-0 in TCCC play and 7-3 overall with a 12-7 victory over Nichols College Wednesday night.
The Golden Bears jumped out to a 9-1 lead at halftime following 8 unanswered goals following a first quarter goal by Macauley Gillis that tied the game at 1. Nichols would comeback in the second half, outscoring the G-Bears 6-3, but wasn't enough as WNEC held on for the 12-7 win. The Bears dominated the faceoffs, taking 19 of 23, and also had 40 ground balls compared to 21 for Nichols. Matty O'Brien led the way for WNEC, scoring 3 goals, while Adam Knapton and Colton Craig had 2 goals and Corrigan Harreys had 2 assists.
WNEC travels to Gordon for their next game on Saturday at noon, and return home next Tuesday when they face Roger Williams at 7.
