The WNEC girls lacrosse team defeated Nichols Tuesday afternoon, 15-6, to improve to 8-3 overall on the season and 5-0 in conference play.
The G-Bears jumped out to a 10-3 halftime lead on two 3-goal and one 4-goal scoring spurts, with leading scorers Jeanmarie Barbado and Kelsey Daniels accounting for 7 of the goals. The two finished the game with 4 goals apeice. Nicole Poli and Katie Toomy took 11 of 14 WNEC draw controls, with Poli taking 6 and Toomy taking 5, who also had 4 ground balls to go along with a goal and 2 assists. Goalie Marrissa Bonitatibus and Erin Doherty combined for 8 saves and 6 goals on 20 shots face for WNEC.
WNEC travels to Gordon Saturday afternoon before returning home Tuesday to face Roger Williams at 4.
