WNEC Baseball downs UMASS Boston at home

The WNEC baseball team improved to 18-6 on the season with an out-of-conference win over UMASS Boston, 5-3.

The Golden Bears wasted no time getting on the board, when Tony Trubia drove in Matt Anthonis after Anthonis walked to leadoff the bottom of the first.  WNEC starter Zach Cloft ran into trouble in the 4th inning when he allowed 2 runs, but the G-Bears offense regained the lead with 2 runs in the 4th, leading 3-2.  Anthonis and Ryan Dudzynski scored twice, with Jason LeClerc scoring the only other run as WNEC won the game 5-3.  Zach Cloft went 6.1 IP allowing 2 runs on 3 hits, walking 2 and striking out while earning his 3rd win on the year.

WNEC has another out-of-conference game Thursday when they face MCLA at home, first pitch at 3:30.
