WNEC Softball falls to Endicott in TCCC Championship

The WNEC softball team had its TCCC title hopes dashed by Endicott for a third straight year, losing to the Gulls 7-2, giving Endicott their 8th consecutive conference championship (3 TCCC, 5 CCC).

WNEC starter Rachelle Fecteau was phenomenal through the first 5 innings, holding Endicott scoreless through four of the five innings, allowing two runners to cross the plate in the second inning on an 2-run double by Krista Fales.  Offensively, the Golden Bears once again had no answers for Endicott's star hurler Jenna Bartolotti, who held WNEC to 2 runs, allowing 7 runners to reach base the whole game, despite striking out just one batter.

The G-Bears struck for runs in the fourth and sixth innings on RBI singles by Elyse Gauvin, which scored Katie Eckert and Erin Griffin.  Griffin crossing the plate in the sixth tied the score at two, before Endicott rallied for 5 runs in the bottom of the sixth to put the game away.

With the win, Endicott moves on to the NCAA regionals.  WNEC will learn their fate on their season in the upcoming days, with an ECAC bid being likely for the G-Bears.
